Major earthquake in Christchurch - Update 15.30

This message is to notify all customers of Digiweb of the impact to your services of the major earthquake that struck Canterbury at 4.35am this morning.

Our Christchurch facilities in Canterbury Technology Park and Durham Street remained operable throughout the period of the primary earthquake and subsequent aftershocks.

Power to both facilities was maintained throughout with power coming from our diesel generators. These generators can power our facilities under full load for a period of 24 hours. With mains power restored the generators are scheduled to be refuelled this afternoon to restore our 24 hour window to operate within our own resources.

In terms of services, with the exception of two clients who have suffered a loss of service all services operated by Digiweb on behalf of our clients have continued to operate without failure. Our building facilities have suffered no damage; our datacentre facilities have suffered no damage. Our offices have suffered minor damage only.

Our team lead by Julia Knoef (Front Line Manager) and Anatoly Kern (Technical Director) are on site dealing with customer queries and restoring service to those clients who have been affected. Our thanks to both Julia and Anatoly who have themselves had to deal with their own issues.

Moving forward unless the Canterbury region experiences significant aftershocks we would expect service to continue uninterrupted. It might be possible given the severe shock that our infrastructure has experienced that some of our sensitive equipment (like disks) may experience operational issues over the coming days. We are monitoring this situation carefully and will report any issues as they come to hand. We have been in touch with all key suppliers to Digiweb today to ensure that our key parts are fully available in addition to our onsite spares should they be required.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to visit our website (www.digiweb.co.nz), or call our call centre on 0800 DIGIWEB (0800 344-493) or contact me on 021 626 484 or adrian.grant@digiweb.co.nz

The team at Digiweb would like to extend their best wishes to all in the Canterbury region during this difficult time.

Major earthquake in Christchurch - Update 11:36 am

We are now back up and running on mains power, and with a soon-to-be full diesel tank we are prepared for any further potential outages.

Premises and staff are all in good shape. We have skeleton staff working this afternoon to tidy up and take calls as available.

We hope that our customers - especially those most affected by today's quake - are safe and well, and we would like to extend our sympathy to those who have suffered any injury or damage to self or property. Our thoughts are with you.

From the team at Digiweb.
