Our Data  Centre

Digiweb’s data centre is located in Canterbury Technology Park, Christchurch.

Servers

As an IBM business partner, all our web and database servers are enterprise class IBM rack mount systems with RAID technology to ensure that processors keep running in the event of a disk failure. Servers are housed in lockable 19” Rack mount enclosures. The server room is self contained with no external walls. Entry is via a security key pad locked door accessible via Digiweb customer support department.

Networks

Internet connectivity is provided by a multi-homed domestic connection via TelstraClear, Telecom and APE with connections to CHIX, WIX and AIX. International bandwidth is is via TelstraClear as the primary provider using diverse connections with failover to Snap Internet using several National and International carriers including Reach, AT&T, Asia-Netcom, and Global-Gateway/TelstraClear.

All network services are delivered via a dual CISCO router configuration. Security is provided via dual redundant CISCO ASA 5520 Firewalls which include Intrusion Detection systems.

Power

Digiweb’s data centre is powered by an 80KVA three phase Liebert on-line UPS which has more than 100 minutes of battery life. All servers, switches and routers are supported by this unit. The benefit of an on-line UPS is that mains power is first converted to DC, then back to AC to power the data centre. This ensures that the load is completely isolated from the mains source and is not dependant upon the mains power source in order to provide un-interrupted power.

In addition, Digiweb has a 274KVA SDMO diesel generator backup unit that starts automatically if the power fails and provides power to the UPS, and internal office networks.

Air conditioning

An N+1 air conditioning system is provided such that any one air conditioning unit can fail and services are able to continue while the unit is being repaired.

Security

Digiweb’s data centre is independently alarmed and monitored via both radio frequency communication and by telephone line as a back up to the Armourgard control centre. A failure of the radio frequency ‘poll’ is considered to be an alarm. Our infrastructure is notified immediately of all alarm conditions.

Smoke detection is via a Vesda LaserFOCUS detector system with a sensitivity of 0.008 to 6.4% obs/ft. The system is linked to a 7x24 monitoring service with staged alert/action levels.

All Digiweb staff have undergone New Zealand Police security clearance checks.

All data is backed up daily to near side disk arrays and taken off site once per week on magnetic tapes to a secure facility.

DRS Services:

Digiweb provides a range of DRS services starting with data backup and off site storage through to the provision of geographically data centres for the location of multiple distributed servers. In addition Digiweb has skills in providing automated recovery and remote site fail-over options where required.
